Counselor, Mrs. Katie Mottram email@example.com
Mrs. Mottram has 20 years of experience in education. She was a middle school teacher for 12 years, seven of them at CCS, before returning to the University of Louisiana- Lafayette to earn a Masters of Science in School Counseling. Since the fall of 2009, she has been the counselor for the middle school students at CCS.
She works closely with parents, faculty, and students to oversee and support the social/emotional/academic growth of students in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. Her role is not to provide long term psychotherapy, rather, it is to actively participate in student life to encourage awareness of self and others, with empathy, compassion and respect. These objectives are met through classroom lessons, small group interactions, private sessions with students, and consultation. Mrs. Mottram is available to all students on a drop-in basis and meets with the administrative team and faculty as needed. Parents may consult with her about the particular needs of their child and to request referrals for outside support and evaluation. Mrs. Mottram may meet with any student during the school year, as the need arises, and will be in contact with parents as necessary.
Mrs. Mottram is a member of the American School Counselor Association and the Louisiana Counseling Association.
