By celebrating Catholic Schools Week and supporting Catholic education, we affirm our commitment to nurturing the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of our students, ensuring they are well-prepared to lead and serve in their communities. The Cathedral-Carmel Foundation is excited to announce that, on behalf of the Cathedral parishioners, Father Chester has established the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Tuition Endowment Fund which awards an annual scholarship to a CCS student and parishioner further supporting Cathedral-Carmel School in its mission to teach Roman Catholic values and academic excellence. Fr. Chester, and the Church, play a vital role in uniting our faith and our CCS community, recognizing the importance of providing a Catholic education to all. We are grateful for this incredible support.

Creating and donating to a Named Endowment Fund is a lasting way to ensure ongoing support for the causes that matter most to you. These funds provide a reliable source of perpetual income, enabling the CCS Foundation to award annual grants and scholarships that benefit students, teachers, and our school. We hope that you will join us in praying for our school, our parish, our students, our faculty and staff, our volunteers, and our religious.

Dinner by Design is a dinner series hosted by St. John’s Cathedral to enrich marriages in our school and parish through evenings of food, wine, fellowship, and guest speakers. It’s the perfect date night for you and your spouse!

We are extremely grateful for the generous contributions benefiting the CCS Historic Preservation Campaign. This campaign began in May 2023 to restore and preserve the original school building, now recognized as the Middle School building; and upgrades to the 2nd-4th Grade building. Renovations are being conducted in phases and include electrical upgrades for central air/heat, new classroom windows, accessibility updates, and refinishes just to name a few.

We were tasked to raise $5 million, and we are excited to announce we are within reach of our campaign goal with only $350,000 left to raise! We anticipate celebrating a Mass of Thanksgiving and the newly restored Middle School building in November/December 2025. Our parents, grandparents, faculty, and alumni have always played a significant role in the success of Cathedral-Carmel School. Our reputation is one of academic excellence, strong Roman Catholic identity, and ongoing vitality and growth. We are forever grateful to you and others who have made CCS what it is today. In conjunction with Catholic Schools Week, the CCS Library Club will be sponsoring a toiletries drive (for men and women) for the homeless in our area. Beginning Monday, January 27 through Friday morning, January 31, all CCS students are encouraged to bring items from the list below. In order to provide a variety of much needed items, we have assigned each grade level a small list to choose from, if they would like to participate. Thank you so much for your support!

CCS strongly believes that having the additional support and active participation of our CCS grandparents, not only strengthens the bond with their grandchild(ren) but also contributes to the overall success of the school and its students. EVERY FAMILY is asked to complete this CCS Grandparent form (click Club Grand link below) no later than Friday, January 24th. (even if you completed this form last year). It is important for us to not only communicate with you, but with our CCS grandparents, who are also a vital part of our school community. We appreciate your support and cooperation with this endeavor.

Local author, Deana Meaux Murry, will be visiting our campus library on Friday, February 7th to present her childrens' book ACHOO THE BEE to the students in REC, TREC, PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grades.

The 2025 "Writes of Spring" creative writing contest is sponsored by the Lafayette Public Library. This writing contest gives our students the opportunity to showcase their creative writing talents. Over the years, many of our students have won awards for their submission. The library will recognize winners in a special ceremony and all winning entries will be published in an anthology. Please encourage your children to participate. The school is willing to hand deliver the paper submissions to the library prior to the deadline. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students!
